Ghana To Unveil Coach

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is expected to announce the name of the new Black Stars coach latest by the end of this week. Mr. Randy Abbey, Spokesperson for GFA stated: “Hopefully by the close of this week the next Ghana coach would be announced to the general public to end the speculation.”

Ghana’s coaching job became vacant when French born Claude Le Roy left the job in May 2008. Since then many names, mostly expatriate coaches have been linked to the job. Mr. Abbey hit the media hard for blowing the issue out of proportion, noting that the media was creating unnecessary tension.

He told Mickey of Kessben FM in Kumasi that since Le Roy vacated his post, the GFA had been vigorously searching for a competent coach to handle the senior national team.

Though he refused to mention names, he emphatically made it clear that Ghana was almost through on settling on a deal with a new coach. However, Mr. Abbey did not say whether the coach was local or foreign.
