Ghana striker Okrah set to join Hacken

Bechem United attacker Augustine Okrah will travel to Sweden this week to officially sign a six-month loan deal with Allsvenskan side BK Hacken in a region of $250,000, Goal Ghana can reveal.

The striker has an option to sign permanently after the loan depending on how he fares.

The 20-year-old forward is optimistic that he will be a success under head coach Peter Gerhardsson at Rambergsvallen Stadium.

“I will be leaving the country [Ghana] for Sweden this week to finalise the paper works with Hacken,” Okrah confided in Goal Ghana. “I will sign a six-month loan contract which runs until the end of the season and I hope to have a successful medicals. Honestly, I believe my stay will be a success.”

The ex-Feyenoord Academy and Asante Kotoko player had a successful trials with Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon last April after the local league was halted for the CHAN tournament but opted to join the Swedish outfit after being promised a first team action by Gerhardsson.

“Many clubs were chasing after me but I think Sweden will be a perfect start. The experience will be a great one because many Ghanaians have played and still playing there,” Okrah pointed out.

He won the Ghana top-flight goal king diadem after netting 16 goals and will join countryman Nasiru Mohammed. Black Stars striker Abdul Majeed Waris also played for Hacken before joining Spartak Moscow in 2013.
