Anthony Annan Anthony Annan

Anthony Annan leads a trio of Ghanaians who suffered painful defeat at the semifinals of the Norwegian Cup.

The trio featured in a thrilling semi-final cup tie between Staebik and Rosenborg. A 3-2 defeat after extra time means Rosenborg will progress to the finals at the expense of Staebik that featured Annan, Ernest Asante and Issah Kamal.

Annan returned to Staebik after an initial loan spell at the beginning of the 2008/09 European season and has been planted straight into the starting berth of the title-chasing Norwegian top flight campaigners.

The ex- Schalke man was joined in the starting eleven by Ernest Asante as Issah Kamal dropped to the bench.

An opening strike from Pal Andre Helland for Rosenborg threatened to humiliate their puzzled visitors.
A 15th-minute caution for Anthony compounded matters for Staebik in a troubled first half.

Mohammed Keita levelled matters for the rejuvenated Staebik eight minutes into the second department of the game.

Nicholas Nais shot the visitors into the lead with 20 minutes remaining in the tie from the spot kick.

Another spot-kick from the home team levelled matters two minutes after going behind.

Kamal Issah replaced Daniel Granli with six minutes remaining whiles Anthony Annan made way for Georgia Goroia in the 90th minute.
An extra time strike from Mathais Vihjalmson sent Rosenborg into the finals of the Norwegian MM Cup.
