George Owu, Ghana’s third choice shot-stopper during the last World Cup in Germany, has signed for home side AshantiGold to revive hopes of playing at the summer global football fiesta in South Africa in June.
He told Goal.com: “The most important thing is to be with a club and then the future will bring itself. I’m happy and hope things will work out as I want here.”
The 27-year-old was released by Egyptian side El Masry last month to try out at English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.
Owu is awaiting his international transfer certificate from the Egyptian FA to enable him play for AshantiGold with seven matches remaining.
