Gyamfi promises Kotoko supporters improved season

Asante Kotoko midfielder Emmanuel Gyamfi says he is hoping to enjoy an improved campaign next season after becoming one of the main faces at the club last season.

The 24-year-old joined Kotoko in June as a free agent after declining to extend his stay with Wa All Stars and played 13 league games out of 15 in the second round, winning the club's best player for the month of August.

"I'm grateful to the supporters and my teammates especially, for the love they showed me. I joined the club in mid-season and they made me feel like being around for years. I'm a better player because of them," Gyamfi told Goal.

"I received lots of plaudits after each game even when I was yet to regain full fitness. This was because I stayed home for long and did not kick a ball during first round. So I had to do extra work to cope with my teammates but it will be massive next season.

"I strongly believe it will be a better one and the supporters will witness twice of the performance I've shown. We will win the title too," he added.

Recent reports in the local media suggest that several clubs in Europe including Armenian side Shirak FC, where he previously played on loan, are interested in Gyamfi's services but the midfielder says he's not travelling.

“I’m not prepared to move now. It's every player's dream to make the grade in Europe but it's not my priority currently. I want to stay a bit longer to be prepared for any opportunity. Kotoko have been good to me and I must repay them with my loyalty," he concluded.
