Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan says Black Stars players will give their full support to their new Serbian coach Goran Stevanovic to succeed in the post.

The 44-year-old was handed the post on Monday after emerging from a long drawn-out interviewing process.

Gyan, who has been the top scorer for the Black Stars in recent matches, says the players will give off their best under Stevanovic to ensure success for the country.

“We will be behind him as players and play our heart out for the nation as we always have,” Gyan said.

The arrival of Stevanovic means there could be change in tactics for the Black Stars who used the rigid 4-5-1 formation under previous boss Milovan Rajevac. Gyan is confident Black Stars players will cope well with the formation to be deployed by Stevanovic as they have been playing together for a while.

“Every coach has his program and how to achieve that. A new coach could mean new tactics, new training methods and a lot of things,” Gyan said.

“But we know ourselves, we have been a group for so long and if there is anything we have done well, it has been our ability to adapt. We will get used to him in no time.”

The Black Stars will meet their new coach just before a friendly against an unknown opponent next month.
