Gyan: Egypt’s game is do-or-die for Ghana

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan said the Black Stars have to beat Egypt at all cost in the first-leg play-off for the 2014 World Cup.

The Al Ain striker has stated the four-time African champions cannot let the expectant Ghanaians down as the West African side prepares to face off with the north Africans in Kumasi on Tuesday.

“Every Ghanaian is looking up to us to qualify for the World Cup,” Gyan said at a pre-match press conference.

“This game is a do-or-die affair. We need to qualify whether we play good or bad. As a captain, I have to just edge the boys on and make sure we win this first leg first and wait for the second leg.”

The Black Stars are hoping to make their third successive appearance at the World Cup after participating in the 2006 and 2010 editions whiles the Pharaohs hope to return to the Mundial since 1990.
