Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan could miss next month’s international friendly against Canada after being ruled out for two to three weeks with a hamstring injury, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The Black Stars and Shanghai SIPG striker hobbled off during his side’s humbling 3-0 defeat against Guangzhou Evergrande in the Chinese Super League last Saturday.

The 29-year-old had to be replaced after just 18 minutes after he picked up the problem.

GHANAsoccernet.com can report that the former Al Ain goal-machine will require a minimum of three weeks to fully recuperate, which put his involvement in the country’s international friendly against Canada next month in doubt.

The Black Stars all-time leading scorer has struggled with recurrent injuries since he joined the ambitious Chinese side in a mega deal two months ago.

The former Sunderland hit-man missed the country’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda after sustaining a knock on his knee but seems to have aggravated the problem during the Chinese Super League game.

He could thus miss next month’s international friendly against Canada in Washington as he will require enough time to heal completely from the setback.

The Black Stars will take on Team Canada on October 13 in the United States in a high-profile friendly game.

Ghana coach Avram Grant will use the friendly exercise to prepare for the 2018 World Cup qualifier against either Lesotho or Comoros in November.

Gyan is Ghana’s undisputed greatest striker of all-time having scored 48 goals in 93 appearances.
