Gyan wins Golden Boot in UAE

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has won the top scorer’s accolade in the just ended Arabian Gulf League for three seasons running after netting 29 goals.

The Al Ain striker won the two previous editions, and pipped Argentina and Al Wahda's Sebastian Tagliabue by two goals to clinch the goal king diadem for the 2013-14 season despite a poor show by his side this season.

The Bosses finished the season sixth on the log but the Ghana international won them an award to be proud of after topping the scorer’s chart. The 28-year-old striker scored 29 goals in 26 matches with six from the penalty spot but two goals short of his personal best [31 goals] last season.

Gyan proved to be an important player for Al Ain after scoring 55.7% his side's total team goals in the league. Team-mate Omar Abdulrahman also emerged the top assisted player this season having assisted 16 times in Al Ain's 52 goals of which many were scored by the Ghana international.

The 'Baby Jet' has now scored 82 league goals in 64 appearances for Al Ain after joining from Sunderland in September 2011. Gyan is expected to replicate his outstanding form in the upcoming World Cup in Brazil.
