Accra, Nov 9, GNA - The renovated Ohene Djan Sports Stadium will accommodate half it's 40,000-capacity when Ghana's Black Starlets host Togo in a special friendly to commission the venue on Sunday, November 11.
Only 20,000 fans will be admitted to the stadium pencilled to host the opening and closing ceremonies of next year's Africa Cup of Nations. Mr Charles Aryeh, Deputy Chief Executive of the National Sports Council (NSC) who announced this at a media briefing on Friday said this is to make way for proper testing of facilities at the national stadium. He explained that the directive resulted from advice by the contractors, Michelleti and Co. who have emphasised on the need to assess the capabilities of facilities at the state-of-the-art stadium.
Mr Aryeh said his outfit has put in stringent measures to enhance security at the stadium. He said fans would have to comply with some modern developments at the venue, which have been put in place for the Ghana 2008 Africa Cup of Nations. President John Agyekum Kuffour will conduct the official opening of the stadium.
Meanwhile, the NSC has announced rates for Sunday's international friendly between the Black Stars and the Sparrow Hawks of Togo. The North and South Stand referred to as the "Popular Stand" will go for GH=A23 (=A230,000), Osu Stand - GH=A25 (=A250,000), VIP Lower - GH=A28 (=A280,000) and the VIP Upper for GH=A210 (=A2100,000).
