Former Ghana goal-stopper Sammy Adjei has blamed Accra Hearts of Oak, the club that shot him into prominence, for his current woes.
The goalkeeper is currently unattached following the expiration of his one-year contract with the Phobians. Consequently, his career is in shambles and he believed Hearts should be blamed for his current predicament.
To him, Hearts should have kept faith with him, taking into account his selfless commitment to the club.
The former Esperance goalkeeper believed his continued stay with the Phobians would have offered him the opportunity to regain his number one spot in the national team, with the current seemingly goalkeeping concerns of the country.
He said on Happy FM Wednesday, “I leave the matter to God. I have nothing more to say.”
And responding to his future plans, he pointed out that “God’s time is the best. It is He who lifts one and brings the other down. I still have what it takes to man the posts, I am not retiring now.”
Adjei, until the Germany 2006 World Cup, was Ghana’s choicest goalkeeper, but lost the number one spot to Richard Kingson, who also gave way to Adam Kwarassey and Fatau Dauda.
DAILY GUIDE SPORTS tried in vain to reach Hearts goalkeeper’s trainer Tetteyvi to speak on the matter.
