After seeing their team fail to hit the target again last Sunday against arch enemies Asante Kotoko, fans of Hearts of Oak have angrily demanded the technical team and management to explain the whereabouts of young striking sensation Edwin Osei Pele.
Osei Pele was hailed as the next big thing at the beginning of last season but after enduring a poor campaign, the youngster has been pushed far below the pecking order at the 100 year old club and has yet to make even a substitute’s appearance seven games into the new season.
Hearts have have clearly lacked striking power this term and have found the net just six times in seven games, most of them from the penalty spot.
“If Osei Pele has done anything wrong, we the supporters are pleading for him to be played. The guy is used in friendly matches and he always scores but when it gets to league matches then he is missing. We want to see him play,” a Hearts fan called into Happy FM moments after Sunday’s goalless stalemate against Kotoko.
Meanwhile, ALL SPORTS can confirm that the player is himself baffled by his continued stay off the pitch. He is also afraid to talk because he was suspended indefinitely last season before being pardoned after making similar complaints.
He told ALL SPORTS, reluctantly: “Nothing has happened, I don’t know why I’m not playing. I go to training, I’m fit and ready but obviously it’s the technical team who will make me play. I’m just waiting for that day.”
He added: “We’ve played seven matches so far and I have not featured in any. It’s not good for me as a striker. Not that I’m injured but I’m fit, strong and ready.”
