Hearts of Oak fringe goalkeeper Silvanus Evans Gbeti is confident he will get his chance in the second round, and he has revealed he is ready to fight for his place.

Gbeti did not taste any action in the first round of the season, pulling out at the last minute in the FA Cup defeat to Samartex, though he has been on the bench on a number of occasions.

He manned the post for the Green Team in their 3-0 triumph over the Red Team in an internal friendly game played at the Legon Ajax Park on Sunday, and following an impressive display, Gbeti says he is ready to take his chance in the second round.

“I got the chance to play my first ever competitive game for Hearts against Samartex but a day before, I got injured, and I could not participate. But that is part of the game,” he told facebook.com/accraheartsofoak.

“I came into the team late and they were already prepared for the season but subsequently I got the chance to be on the bench because of my performance at training and though I feel I deserved to play; I could not get that chance.

"But hopefully, in the second round, I will get my chance again. I have not set a target as to the number of games I want to play in the second round; but I am confident that I will get my chance in the second round and play some games for the club.

“I am equal to the task and I am one of the best goalkeepers in the club; I have had a feel of football outside Ghana so I am determined though this is my first time playing in the Premier Division but I am not scared. I know Hearts is a big club but I am equal to the task.

“I will grab the opportunity when it comes. I kept a clean-sheet in the match today and I am feeling confident and okay. My goalkeepers coach [Nassam Yakub] is giving me confidence and I am performing good; and so I am optimistic when I get the chance I will perform."

He added: “The fans should keep supporting the team and we the players are ready to deliver because the first spot is our target."
