Hearts strike mutual deal with Olympics

Accra, Sept. 14, GNA - The Interim Management Committee (IMC) of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club has struck a mutual agreement with their city rivals, Accra Great Olympics to organise a raffle during their fourth week league match at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, September 14. Olympics will be the host team when they meet Hearts in the fourth week league match at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday. Following this, Hearts made a request to Olympics to allow them organise a raffle during Sunday's match in order to raise some revenue for their continental assignments.

Mr Ashford Tettey-Oku, Administrative Manager of Hearts told the GNA Sports that the management of Olympics have consequently heeded to their request following their appeal. He said the request was made based on the fact that the club is finding it difficult to raise enough money for their second trip to Cameroon to honour their Confederations Cup match against Sable d' Batie on September 25, hence the need for the club to organise the raffle during the match even though they are not the home team. According to the Administrative Manager the club has already incurred huge budget deficit when the embarked on the first trip last week to engage Cotonsport and this is likely to be replicated in their next trip.

Mr Tettey-Oku said the arrangement is expected to enable Hearts to raise money to pay off the huge budget deficit from the two trips that the club is embarking to Cameroon. He however noted that revenue generated from the raffle would be shared between the two clubs under an agreed term. Mr Tettey-Oku expressed the hope that fans of the two clubs will patronise the match to support a worthy cause. In view of this, a flat rate of 20,000 cedis would be charged at the Popular stand with 30,000 cedis going for the May 9th and Osu Stands. The Upper Terrace, Wings and the VIP will go for 50,000, 80,000 and 100,000 cedis respectively.
