Hendricks Stripped Off Captaincy

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have stripped skipper Joseph Hendricks of his captaincy after the recent events that have engulfed the club.

Defender Issa Ahmed has been named the new captain with Edmund Owusu Ansah the new deputy.

Owusu Ansah replaces Striker Nana Arhin Duah who together with Hendricks has been accused by the clubs management of failing to carry out their duties as leaders of the team.

Major (Rtd) Yaw Larson, Chief Executive officer of the club, told Joy Sports that due to what happened in Burkina Faso where the normal channel of communication was bypassed management has decided to act to curb the indiscipline in the team.

?The bottom line of my administration is to instil discipline into the body politic of the team'

'Some players flagrantly disregarded their contractual obligations to the club by jumping onto radio stations to voice their grievances.?

He added that ?Hendricks has the responsibility of being the captain, which comes with certain defined rules and responsibilities and as a leader he failed in performing those duties and therefore the only way out is to strip him of that responsibility.?

On Wednesday, Players of Kumasi Asante Kotoko players apologized to the team?s technical bench for their behaviour during the training tour of Burkina Faso.

Key players of the Porcupine Warriors boycotted training before and during the Burkina tour and returned to Kumasi with a litany of accusations against the club?s management.

The players among others alleged they were poorly fed during their stay in Ouagadougou.

And there have been suggestions that many of the senior players are unhappy with the appointment of Malik Jabir and are keen to sabotage him.
