Real Madrid's on-loan striker Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor has categorically stated that he will rather play for Kumasi Asante Kotoko in Ghana, than ply his trade in the Russian league.
Rumors had reached roof-top suggesting that the former Togo captain is on the verge of landing a Russian deal for next season.
But the player has responded to the wild speculations saying, 'I have nothing against Russia, but I don't see myself playing in the Russian league.
'I once even dated a Russian lady so the question of me having some hatred for the country is out,' he told the press after commissioning a water project he funded in Wa, Upper West Region.
To the lanky forward, linguistic problems coupled with other factors are some of the reasons that will militate against his move to Russia.
'I would prefer playing for Asante Kotoko than to play for a Russian club,' he said smiling.
He revealed that he will gladly return to his former employers when the need arises, saying, 'If I have to go back to City, I will do it with pleasure.'
Reacting to why he kept warming the bench at City, he noted: 'A lot of people thought my form had dipped that was why I had limited playing time in London, but I proved them wrong when I joined Madrid.'
