Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan says he did not expect to score two goals in the friendly game against Turkey.
He told reporters after the game that when he went on for the second half, the expectation was to get an early goal to get back into the game, adding that he expected someone else to score the equalizing goal.
He said: “Every attacker likes to score in the game but honestly I didn’t expect these two goals. They dominated the first half and were more aggressive. When I went on, the aim was to get an early goal before we can come back into the game.
“We got it and we had the belief, but I wasn’t expecting to be the one to score, I thought someone else would score. As an attacker when I score I am happy and at least I have rescued Ghana.”
Gyan praised his team-mates for their commitment and fighting spirit during the match, noting that it was a game of two halves.
