I feel like playing again – Gargo Mohammed

The player with the Sputnik Shot, Mohammed Gargo said he felt like playing football again when he saw talented young players display their skills and strengths on the plush green turf at the Mantarc Centre of the Right to Dream Academy in the Eastern Region. Gargo, a graduate of the national teams who played for the Black Starlets, Black Satellites, Black Meteors and the Black Stars said the present generation of footballers are blessed because they have the opportunity of playing with boots on very smooth grass pitches.

Speaking to yours truly exclusively, the former Real Tamale United star who played for Torino, Udinese and other top clubs in Europe said playing football with the right equipment makes you feel to play for long hours and playing for longer hours makes one better and perfect. According to Gargo who is now a coach, training young players is not an easy job because the coach must demonstrate what he says for the players to do the same right thing. He said the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has done well to organize coaching courses for retired players and that has equipped some young coaches like him. “It is good that we impart what we know to the future stars, we were champions and we have to groom more champions” he said.

Comparing Europe to Africa, he expressed that there are talents all over the world, but Africans are stronger just like South Americans, but the Europeans have the facilities to train.

He hoped that African Football leaders would encourage young Africans by constructing Academies and other facilities like Gyms to train young footballers.
