I’m Proud to be a shoe-shine boy: Kuffour

Former Ghanaian and Bayern Munich defender Samuel Osei Kuffour has said that he feels proud to be a shoe shine boy.

Speaking to www.pinkfmonlinegh.com in his magnificent mansion at East Legon the most decorated Ghanaian footballer said, “Being a shoe shine boy is not a crime. I’m very proud of it. There are a lot of hawkers on the street and these are the future President, Ministers and whatever so I’m glad to be a shoe shine boy from the beginning. The Lord said that the beginning is not important but the end is more important so for me, I’m glad that the Lord has blessed me and I am in a good condition today”.

“If you are not in a good condition today it doesn’t mean that you should go and hang yourself because there’s time for everything and God knows why it happened like that. I can’t tell why but for me, the only time I have to be glad for myself and the people around me is when I have to do the best for the young ones who are coming up”.

The former player who will finally bid farewell to football on the 23rd December, 2011 at the Baba Yara stadium where he’s going to assemble most of colleagues during his hay days to play in the ‘Sammy Kuffour testimonial match’ also shared how inseparable he’s been from his mother. “My mother is the one I put before God and I don’t know why. She is the one who advised me to wear the jersey number 4 throughout my career and it did a lot of magic for me”, the ex Bayern Munich stopper said.
