Accra, Jan 6, GNA-Alhaji Gibrine Yahaya, the sacked team manager of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has denied media reports that his services with the club have been terminated on loyalty grounds.
The former team manager who witnessed the team's international friendly game against the Benin U-20 team at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra with coach Han Dieter Schmidt on Wednesday insists he is still at post.
He told the GNA Sports that, " I simply don't know where this whole story is coming from because as far as I am concerned, I am still with the team".
Alhaji Yahaya explained that, "I trained with the team this morning in my capacity as the team manager before travelling to Accra with the coach to watch this game" and quizzed "so what does that make me"?
The former team manager who gave the GNA Sports a cold shoulder when his reaction was sought said, " I don't want to talk to any media man because I have been advised by the head of my family not to say a word to anyone".
Information gathered by the GNA Sports however indicates that Alhaji Yahaya who has worked with the club for 20 years was present at Kotoko's two training sessions held on Thursday where he went about his normal duties.
The club reportedly fired the team manager on loyalty grounds only 24 hours after their one all drawn game against Hearts of Oak in their first leg of the Confederation Cup final match played at the Ohene Djan Sports stadium in Accra on Sunday.
Kotoko, according to that information questioned his loyalty to the club when it is believed he disclosed the colour of their jersey to the Phobian's prior to the titanic clash.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA), two seasons ago banned Alhaji Yahaya for a year for attacking a match official in the club's away match at Koforidua as guest of Power FC.
