I want Black Stars call up - Asamoah

Asante Kotoko General manager Samuel Opoku Nti has denied reports that former striker Nathaniel Asamoah is demanding $25,000 to join the club in the second half of the season.

Asamoah, 26, was with Kotoko in 2011 but joined Moroccan side Raja Casablanca from Medeama last season. However, his contract with the North African side was mutually terminated after falling out with the club's manager due to series of uninspiring performances. He has been a free agent since his release in December.

“Asamoah has not made any demand of GH100,000 ($25,000) as some media houses have been reporting,” Not told the club's website.

“There’s no truth in those [rumours]. We've met the player and he and his agent are expected back on Wednesday after the initial meeting. I’m putting on record that Asamoah hasn’t made the demands that sections of the media have been reporting.

"Our supporters shouldn't believe those reports except the ones we (the club) have published. In consultation with the technical team, management has shown interest in the player. We've taken the neccessary steps," he added.

Kotoko, after a dismal start to the season, have moved ten places to fifth on the log, following successive victories over Hearts and Dwarfs. They travel to Bechem next weekend to lock horns with Bechem United in matchday twelve.
