Vitoria Guimaraes striker Nii Adamah Plange has served notice for the first time that he is no longer interested in playing for Burkina Faso and now wants to commit his future to Ghana.

The 24-year-old was born in Ghana but pledged his allegiance to the Stallions back in August 10, 2011 where he featured in a friendly game against South Africa.

Plange has not fielded in any competitive tournament for Burkina Faso since then manager Paulo Duarte selected him for that test game, making him eligible to wear the Ghana colours with his dual nationality status.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Goal from his Portugal base, the forward said with hindsight he feels he made a premature decision to opt for Burkina Faso.

“My dream is to play for Ghana,” Plange confessed to Goal. “But anything happens in this career. I once played with ASFA Yennenga in Burkina Faso and through that the national team handlers approached me, Solomon Asante and Mandela Ocansey to naturalise and play in a friendly.”

He added: “We were so young so we couldn’t make a 100 per cent decision and you can imagine how happy we were then. We decided to play in the friendly because it causes nothing, but my dream has always been to play for Ghana.”

“Now I want to fight and play for my country. I am willing to switch nationality officially. Ghana has been on my heart and I feel it will be a dream come true to fulfill that dream. It is never true that I’m married to a Burkinabe woman. Those are false information making rounds on the internet.”

The former Sporting frontman admitted that “it is going to be tough to break into the Black Stars now” but he is going to put in a great deal of hard work to catch the eyes of coach Kwesi Appiah in the future.

“I’m aware there are lots of players and some are even well known unlike me, but I’m determined for that competition once I’m given the opportunity. I’m a bit worried because Ghanaians know of other strikers more than me but with hard work I believe I can break through with my work on the field.”

Plange countered the opinion that he is eyeing a Black Stars call-up because of the summer World Cup, which could serve as a platform to market himself.

“I’m not pushing for a nationality switch because the 2014 World Cup is fast approaching. My dream is to play at the World Cup as a footballer but Brazil 2014 is not my target. I love Ghana and I want to play for Ghana. This World Cup can go because I know there are more opportunities and tournaments ahead. I’m not thinking about this World Cup at all else that will be unfair on my part.

“If Burkina Faso really wanted me they would have given me the chance now. I doubt they need me and I thank God all happened that way so I can have my chance to play for Ghana. I don’t have anyone in Burkina Faso and all my relatives are in Ghana so that is where my heart lies now,” he emphasized.

Asked about what he is got to offer to the Black Stars, Plange opined: “I’m deadly in the striking department and I’m good at the wings too. These are huge benefit to Ghana and that is what I’m bringing on board. I have the ability to score at will.”

“I am a Ghanaian. I love watching the Black Stars. At the moment Ghana is the best in Africa. Christian Atsu, Solomon Asante are all my friends. We were at Feyenoord Academy together and Harrison Afful as well as David Addy who is with me here.”

Plange noted that he took the best decision to move from Sporting CP to Vitoria Guimaraes because that has earned him enough game time. “All is going on well here. I can’t have it 100% but I’m satisfied. My performance is higher now. We played the Europa League and I’m scoring in the league too.

“It was a good idea to move from Sporting. I had the chance to play in the Europa League and now I have a lot of game time.”
