Injured Boye to return in seven days

Ghana has received a timely boost ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations with news defender John Boye will be out for just a week after picking up an injury on Monday night.

The 27-year-old was taken off in what now is known to be a precautionary measure after feeling a twitch in his thigh while in action for Kayseri Erciyesspor in their Turkish league draw at Sivasspor.

Results from an MRI scan conducted on the injured thigh on Tuesday morning revealed the Black Stars defender had not suffered a tear as initially feared.

The former Stade Rennes man is only required to rest for seven-days to ease off a muscle contusion, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

He is thus expected to be back in action for his club before the league break late in December.

This comes as a massive relief for Ghana as the key defender will be available for selection way in time ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

Boye only returned to action two months ago having recovered from an injury which kept him out of the most parts of Ghana’s qualifiers for the Nations Cup.

Ghana is already hit with an injury situation after Kwadwo Asamoah was ruled out for three months having undergone successful operation on his injured knee late last month.
