Midfielder Godfred Donsah will have his senior Ghana debut delayed due to injury.

The new Bologna signing who has been handed a call-up for Ghana’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, suffered an injury setback on his first outing for the club as they lost 0-1 to Sassuolo in the Serie A at the weekend.

Donsah who was enjoying a decent debut outing came off worst following a collision from a timely challenge together with teammate Masina to deny Gregoire Defrel from scoring the opener for Sassuolo. The young Ghanaian remained on the ground after the challenge.

He had suffered a shoulder dislocation and needed a treatment.

Donsah could not continue the game and had to be substituted in the 54th minute by Guinea teenager Amadou Diawara.

But the 18-year-old former Cagliari defensive midfielder’s dislocated shoulder may however not need surgery as he has been ruled out for ten days.

Donsah will thus miss Ghana’s two games against Congo (September 1 friendly) and Rwanda (Afcon Qualifier on September 5) but is expected to be fit after the international break.
