Olympique Marseille striker Pierre-Andre Gignac has revealed that Lorient forward Jordan Ayew told him which direction he will place the penalty in the 1-1 drawn game Tuesday evening.

Dimitri Payet gave Marseille the lead in the 33rd minute before Ayew converted a 37th minute penalty to make the score even.

“I asked him (Jordan) if he was going to shoot like he did against Toulouse, he said yes. And he did just that and scored...

“I should have informed my keeper Steve Mandanda. But I did not want to destabilise either, Steve's big enough to make decisions and choose the right side,” Gignac told Foot Mercato.

Ayew and Gignac have been close friends since the promotion of the 23-year-old to the Marseille senior team four seasons ago.

The former Marseille man has scored four times for Lorient this season.
