Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee George Afriyie says he does not believe that Ghana’s inability to win the African Cup of Nation in the last 33 years is the work of an unseen hand.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Black Stars hotel on Tuesday, February 03, 2015, George said “I don’t believe that the trophy drought is the handiwork of some unseen hand. I have faith in the God I served. We are doing the right things to ensure we win the trophy. Most of us believe it has to do more with psychological reasons and not spirituality”.
The Black Stars have reached the semi-finals of the African Cup for five successive times yet they have not been able to win the ultimate.
This year, the Black Stars have once again qualified to the semi-finals and have booked a date with host nation, Equatorial Guinea in Malabo on Thursday, February 5.
A win for Ghana will take the Black Stars one step closer to ending the inexplicable trophy barren spell.
Ghana will meet either Ivory Coast or DR Congo should the Black Stars beat the host nation in the semi-finals.
A dream date with Ivory Coast has been the talk of town, but managers of the Black Stars want to take it one game at a time and not get ahead of themselves.
