K. K. Sarpong hauls Kotoko to court over debt

Ex-Executive Board Chairman of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Dr. Desmond Kofi Kodua Sarpong has, through his lawyers, Agyabeng Akrafi & Co, summoned the owner and life Patron of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to the Kumasi High Court for owing him an amount of five hundred and thirty-six thousand, two hundred and forty-seven Ghana cedis (GHC 536,247.00)

These are monies he insists were due him when he was the Executive Board Chairman of the club, for the period between 1st January 2011 and 31st July 2013.

According to the writ of summons which was served on the club, the lawyers explained that Dr. Sarpong and the other board members agreed to contribute monies for the general running of the club which the club will refund with a 15% interest.

In addition, Dr. Sarpong coughed up an amount of two hundred thousand Ghana cedis (GHC200,000.00) for the purchase of Brazilian international, Dusolver Hernines, which has still not been refunded by the club.

In view of the fact that Otumfuo Osei Tutu is the owner and life Patron of the club, Dr. Sarpong seems to have indirectly summoned him to the law court for a refund of his monies.
