Ghana striker Kwame Amponsah Karikari made history by becoming the first ever player to score a match-winner for Haugesund in their season opener in the Norwegian top-flight.
Haugesund had never won a game in the opening day of the Norwegian season but the Ghanaian striker climbed off the bench to score a crucial finish as they overcame Sarpsborg 1-0 at the Sarpsborg Stadion.
With both Derrick Mensah and the 2011 Ghana U20 forward left on the bench for he start of the game, Haugesund manager Mark Dempsey threw in the Ghanaian and he struck the winner 8 minutes from time.
Karikari received the ball from the middle and returned a pass to the right wing in an architectural fashion before receiving it 40 meters away from goal. The goal-maestro timed himself and fired home with an instinctive venom.
The striker signed a one-and-half year contract with Haugesund after leaving Swedish side Halmstad BK.
