Tigo Community Soccer (TCS) fever gripped the Sekondi environs when Ghana’s premier inter –communal football tournament made a stop this past weekend.
In keeping with TCS tradition, 16 teams from Sekondi participated in the tournament.
The Sekondi Methodist Park was the venue in the twin Western Regional capital.
After two days of relentless football action, Kojokrom and European Town battled for the glittering trophy and gold medals in the final. Having taken the lead late in the second half, Kojokrom were stunned minutes later when European Town equalized.
With only seconds to go, Kojokrom scored the definitive winner through Stephen Ansah who went on to claim the Most Valuable Player award. He was awarded a Samsung smartphone.
The winners, Kojokrom took home the champions’ trophy, gold medals, Tigo souvenirs and a cash prize of GH¢500. European Town were consoled with silver medals, Tigo souvenirs and a cash price of GH¢300.
Third placed Yensuado took home Tigo souvenirs and a cash reward of GH¢200.
