Ghana Telecom Premier League leaders, Kumasi Asante Kotoko has re-emphasised it's protest against FIFA Referee William Agbovi from officiating in the clubs league matches.
A statement signed by the Chairman of the Intereme Management Team,IMT,Alhaji Salifu Abubakari and copied to AUTHENTIC KAPITAL SPORTS,said"prior to the GT League match with Accra Hearts of Oak Football Club at the Ohene Gyan Sports Stadium on the 2nd October,Asante Kotoko Football Club protested against the appointment of Referee Agbovi to handle the said match for several reasons to the FA".
The statement stressed"unfortunately,the FA treated our protest with contempt and went on to appoint referee Agbovi to handle the match much to our disapproval".We wish to state in no uncertain terms that referee Agbovi's performance in the said match was very disappointing. His performance buttressed our reason for the protest against him" the statement added.
According to the statement,before the match, Referee Agbovi could not establish his authority on affairs thus caused the match to start far beyound the stipulated time which translated into the match where he put up a very abysmal performance.
The statement reiterated that Kotoko does not want to see Referee Agbovi appointed to handle any of their matches. The statement was also copied to the Chairman of the Professional League Board and the Ministry of Education and Sports.
