Kotoko beat Dwarfs by a lone goal

Kumasi, Jan. 12, GNA - Fabulous Kumasi Asante Kotoko pipped Cape Coa= st Ebusua Dwarfs 1-0 in their mid-week Glo Premier League match played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi.

The lone goal of the match was scored by Nathaniel Asamoah in the 44th minute with a cheeky shot which sailed through the hands of goalkeeper Adad= e Foli and hit the roof of the net amidst jubilation from the teeming supporters of the Porcupine Warriors who thronged the stadium to watch thei= r idol club resurge.

Asamoah, who received the ball from Frank Boateng from the left flank wove his way through a host of defenders of Dwarfs to break the deadlock. The newly signed prolific goal-getter has thus scored three goals for Kotoko with the commencement of the second round of the League. Asamoah scored two goals against Wa All Stars, his former club in the first away match of Kotoko last Sunday when Kotoko carried the day with a 2-0 victory. Both teams started the match on s strong note under the instructions o= f referee Yaw Ametepe of Sunyani after a minute's observance in memory of t= he late referee P.P. Awuah.

Dwarfs who put up a splendid performance in the first half nearly equalized from a goalmouth melee in the three minutes of added on time but the defence of Kotoko managed to weather the storm. During the second session, Dwarfs fought tooth and nail to level up bu= t the iron clad defence of Kotoko refused to bulge after series of forays.
