Kotoko board to decide future of Opoku Nti

The Asante Kotoko board will be making a permanent decision over the future of interim managing director Samuel Opoku Nti in the coming week.

The former Ghana international has been the acting head of a known two-man management team for the past seven months.

Nti was first handed a three-month mandate to run affairs following the appointment of the board in August 2013.

He was then handed an indefinite mandate following the expiration of the initial period.

The board will now be making a definite decision as to whether to retain Nti on a substantive basis or dismiss him outright.

“The board will be meeting very soon and by next week we should be making an announcement to this effect,” board member Nana Baffour Kwame Kusi II [Ankobiahene] told Montie FM.

“A definite decision will be made over the status of Opoku Nti to settle this matter once and for all.”

Changes within the administrative set up of Kotoko are imminent following their shock early exit from the CAF Champions League to Liberian club Barrack Young Controllers.

Many have called for the ousting of the board – a prerogative of owner Otumfuor Osei Tutu II.

The team however remain in pole position to retain their Premier League title having opened up a seven point lead at the top and crucially with a game in hand.
