Kumasi Asante Kotoko coach, Karim Zito underwent successful surgery on his wrist last night after being attacked by armed men late Saturday.
Karim Zito had his wrist (left) slashed on the eve of Kotoko?s premier league encounter with Liberty Professionals.
Anthony George Laing, a consultant plastic surgeon at the Korle-Bu teaching hospital, performed an eight-hour surgery on Zito?s severed wrist (left) Sunday night.
He told Joy sports that though, the injury was severe he expected the coach to be fully recovered within the next six weeks.
?He nearly lost his hand. He had s slash across the wrist joint cutting practically everything." George Laing said.
"The only thing that was contributing to the survival of the hand was that one of the arteries and the nerve responsible for sensation and movement of structures in the hand were intact.
"We hope we wouldn?t have any untoward complications.
?Barring any complications we should be able to get him out of hospital in a week or probably less, ? George Laing told Joy Sports.
