Kumasi, April 7, GNA - The Voltarians Coordinating Council made up of natives of the Volta Region resident in the Ashanti Region have commended the management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club for its commitment and care towards the treatment of members of the Togolese football team, Etolie Filante, who were recently involved in a motor accident.
Togbe S.K. Fugah, Head of the Volta Community in the Region who gave the commendation said by ensuring that the accident victims were promptly rushed to recognised hospitals for medical attention, Kotoko had demonstrated a genuine concern and affection for the health of the Togolese players.
He was speaking in Kumasi on Tuesday when he led a delegation of the Voltarian Community to visit two of the accident victims currently on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
The Community also presented assorted beverages including tins of Milo and milk to the accident victims.
The two, Tchedre Napo a defender and Kuami Agbessi the goalkeeper of the team were transferred in critical conditions alongside their coach, Bidar Jacque from the Kyebi Government Hospital in the Eastern Region to KATH after they were involved in a road accident.
The Coach, Jacque was however treated and discharged while the defender and keeper are still on admission at KATH as a result of the seriousness of their conditions.
The accident occurred on Saturday, March 21 at Osino near Anyinam while Etoile Filante football club was on its way to Kumasi to play an international friendly football match against Kumasi Asante Kotoko. Togbe Fugah gave the assurance that the Voltarian Community in the Region would continue to pay frequent visits to the victims and assist them to recuperate and are discharged.
He suggested that the match between the Togolese team and Kotoko should be re-arranged and part of the proceeds used in assisting the victims of the accident.
Mr Augustine Omono Asamoah, health officer of Kotoko said the team owed it a moral duty to see to the good health of the injured players and will never relent in that effort.
Tchedre Napo on behalf of his colleagues expressed their gratitude to the management of Kotoko and the Voltarian Community for their show of affection and brotherliness.
The Voltarian delegation was accompanied by its elder, Dumega Hudzo Atu.
