Kotoko could name ‘Citizen Kofi’ as new CEO

The board of Asante Kotoko after their recent meeting last Saturday have decided to allow Samuel Opoku Nti to continue his mandate as General Manager of the porcupine warriors until the end of the season but has also decided to advertise for the position of a Chief Executive Officer at the end of this season just as 90 MINUTES revealed last week.

Before Saturday’s meeting, renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist, Dr Kofi Amoah of the Citizen Kofi fame, who served as Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of Ghana CAN 2008 was rumoured to have been contacted to take the about to be announced vacant Kotoko CEO position.

The March 1 meeting which spanned 5 hours touched on many issues affecting the club including a discussion on the club’s failed outing in the CAF Champions League, Coach Mas-Ud Dramani’s outstanding enticement payments and attacker Yahaya Mohammed.

According to our sources, the latter has been summoned to meet the club’s board on Tuesday to explain why he deceived officials of the club and absconded to sign a pre-contract with Libyan side Ittihad Tripoli.

90 MINUTES can confirm that Yahaya, whose contract runs out in July availed himself at Kotoko’s training grounds last Friday but was prevented from joining his team-mates by head coach Didi Dramani who directed him to meet management for clearance. Yahaya however took to training on his own before leaving the Adako-Jachie premises.
