Kotoko's new communications director ready for tough task

Dr. Ernest Opoku insists he is ready to face the stern challenges as the new Head of Communications for Asante Kotoko.

The medical practitioner was appointed on Saturday evening and will take over from Listowell Yesu Bukarson who has been reassigned to head the club’s Marketing Department.

Dr. Opoku comes in at a difficult time where management is under a lot of pressure following the side’s elimination from the CAF Champions League.

But the owner of Kumasi-based Red Hill Clinic says he will be up to the task in his new official role with the reigning Premier League champions.

“There were no real discussions between myself and the chairman,” he told Accra-based Happy FM.

“The chairman told me he wanted to have me as the head of the communications team so I asked that I consider the proposal for about three days.

“I however decided to accept after looking through the proposal and knowing there will be well-laid structures for the communication directorate.

“I am aware of the enormous challenges and pressures associated with the job and I am prepared for the challenge,” he added.
