Kuban Krasnodar coach Sergey Tashuev has confirmed Ghana midfielder Mohammed Rabiu’s season is over and will have to undergo a reconstructive surgery.
Rabiu tore the interior cruciate ligament in his right knee and damaged the internal meniscus during Sunday’s Russian Premier League match at home.
The 26-year-old picked up the injury and had to be substituted in 63rd minute.
"I can confirm the worst fears. Rabiu was diagnosed with cruciate ligament rupture. The midfielder will have an operation and he will take 4-6 months to recover depending on the circumstances,” Tashuev said.
"Rabiu will soon go to Germany for a more detailed examination, but the fact is that the season is over for the player."
The midfielder is expected to be back in September.
He has made 22 appearances in all competitions and made two assists.
