Former national team star Sammy Kuffour has revealed his excitement over the transfer of Kwadwo Asamoah to Serie A giants Juventus Turin and has even defended the nimble footed Asamoah’s decision to choose the Italian champions over English Premiership record winners Manchester United.
“It’s a great chance, great opportunity for him to just excel himself again. It’s a good decision because he knows exactly what he wants, he’s not a little boy anymore. He was young when he went there (Udinese) and he has developed tremendously,” Kuffour stated last week on Supersport’s Soccer Africa programme on DSTV.
The former Torino and Roma defender has also shrugged aside suggestions that the national team playmaker should have opted for Man United who were reportedly also interested in Asamoah.
Kuffour explained: “Man United will be a great option but Italy is not bad for him, he has been at Udinese for a long time.
“I think they are the same level, if you compare the achievements there is no difference between Juventus and Man United.
“Juventus are among the 8 or 10 top teams in the world.”
