The international future of AS Roma defender, Samuel Kuffuor, remains in doubt as his stand-off with Ghana's football authorities looks set to continue. The 28-year-old has refused to apologise for suggesting the Ghana Football Association (GFA) lied about the state of his health, which has resulted in his exclusion from the Black Stars since March.
He told BBC Sport : "There is no way I am going to say sorry, why should I say sorry?
"I did nothing wrong, so I should go to the coach and say I am sorry when indeed I was not sick?
"I was healthy so there is no way I will say sorry when someone says I was not."
But Ghana coach Ratomir Dujkovic on Monday insisted that he would not consider the former Bayern Munich defender for the Black Stars until he makes an apology .
"Like I said before he has to apologise to the federation, to me, and to all Ghanaians," Dujkovic told BBC Sport.
"It is not acceptable for a player to be going around and calling us liars. "If he wants to play for the Black Stars he has to apologise otherwise we won't call him again."
Kuffuor was expelled from the Black Stars squad at the 2002 African Cup of Nations in Burkina Faso and was very critical of Fred Osam-Duodu, then coach of the team, on his decision to drop several Europe-based players from the squad. He has had several skirmishes with previous national team coaches and GFA officials in recent years. Kuffuor said his return to the national team is not guaranteed even if the latest episode in his international career is resolved. "I am still a Ghanaian but I won't assure you about that (returning to play for Ghana)," Kuffuor added.
