Kwesi Appiah: My players must fight for playing time in their Clubs

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has said he expects Black Stars players to command regular playing time with their clubs this season.

Ghana are pushing for a historic third straight appearance at the World Cup and would rely on the form of the country’s finest players to achieve that feat.

Ghanaian players in Europe struggled to command playing time last season but Appiah is hoping for a change.

“We are all hoping and praying that each and every player of the Black Stars gets a starting lineup in their various clubs, it’s not going to be easy but it is achievable,” Appiah told Radio XYZ.

Players in France, South Africa and Belgium have already kick started their season while those in Italy, England, Germany, Portugal and Spain wait in the wings to get off.

Appiah who is set to test the strength of his team in the friendly against Turkey on Wednesday added that his players must fight hard and see regular action with their clubs.

“They all need to fight very hard and win the confidence of their various coaches and once they all get quality playing time, it will not help them alone but it will be a huge benefit to the nation at large.”
