Accra, June 30, GNA - The GT Premier League hots up on Sunday as old foes Okwawu United and Kumasi Asante Kotoko clash at the Nkawkaw Park in the topmost liner of the 12th-week fixtures.
Kotoko with 22 points occupy the third spot on the log, and 11 points better than their Sunday opponents who are perched at the 13th position; just two points separating them from the bottom club Bofoakwa. The disparity between the two teams must not give way to complacency on the 16-club league table, because whenever the two sides meet, it always goes beyond just football and the maximum three points but also a massage of pride.
The ego of the two sides had always made their meetings on the turf very thick and Sunday will not be different.
Kotoko's attack have been bolstered with the signing of ex-Black Stars player Nii Odartey Lamptey and will be hoping that the player's international exposure would aid the Porcupine Warriors to triumph over the Soccer Mountaineers.
While Kotoko will be relying on big names to do the trick, Okwawu would be content with their virtually unknown players with support from their new Hearts of Oak trio - including Nasiru Gani, Wisdom Abbey plus home support to carry the day.
Up North, Hearts is trekking to play Real Tamale United in a battle that only the "gods" have the answer. RTU has been invincible at home; but two seasons ago, Hearts broke that invincibility with a 3-1 bashing at the Kaladan Park and may be attempting to re-enact that feat to affirm their grip at the top of the table, but that will not be easy.
After a goalless drawn game at the Sekondi Gyandu Park on Wednesday, King Faisal welcome Feyenoord at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to increase their point's build-up while struggling Dwarfs host Hasaacas at the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast.
At the Berekum Park, Arsenals who exhibited lot of resilience in their match against Hearts of Oak but lost 1-2 will have to win their encounter against Kade Hotspurs to stay afloat while Real Sportive lock horns with Bashiru Hayford's Power at the Tema Stadium.
AshantiGold are likely to worsen the woes of bottom club Bofoakwa when the two team clash at the Len Clay Stadium while Sadat Bukari and Jerry Akaminko lead Kpando Hearts of Lions against Liberty Professionals in a match of equals at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra.
