League is not yet over - IMC member

Kumasi, Nov 12, GNA -Mr George Ayisi-Boteng, a member of the Kumasi Asante Kotoko Interim Management Committee (IMC) in-charge of Finance and Administration, has sounded a note of caution to all Kotoko faithfuls who have started jubilating in anticipation of the club winning the 2003 Premier league to be patient.

He said association football was full of uncertainties and as such they should wait till the last match before jubilating, adding that the team will therefore approach the remaining three matches with all the seriousness, commitment and dedication they deserved.

Speaking to GNA Sports in Kumasi on Tuesday, Mr Ayisi-Boateng said "mathematically and methodically, we seem to be in a good position to clinch the title for the first time in 10 years, but we know where we are coming from and will not let complacency take the better part of us".

He attributed the team's sterling performance this season to the co-operation between the IMC, the playing body and the technical handlers and expressed appreciation to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for the confidence reposed in them.

"We will not disappoint Otumfuo, neither will we disappoint our numerous supporters who have been behind us solidly through thick and thin".

On whether or not Kotoko will seek the services of a foreign coach after the league, Mr Ayisi-Boateng said that decision was solely the prerogative of Otumfuo since the IMC's fate will be determined by him at the end of our tenure of office.

On the Charles Taylor issue, the IMC member said the IMC secretary and Taylor's lawyer were liaising to come out with what they intended doing to get the money back.

"I cannot tell you what we have so far planned to do but we are expecting a positive result at the end of the day".

Mr Ayisi-Boateng commended Charles Taylor for his sense of professionalism and that all things being equal to best of the "soccer prince" was yet to be seen. 12 Nov 03
