League match ends abruptly

Apam, (C/R) Jan 15, GNA - The Division Two league match between Apam Liberty and Gomoa Ojobi Kaakyire Stars at Apam ended abruptly in the 72nd minute on Sunday.

At the time of the incident, Ojobi Kaakyire Stars was leading by a lone goal.

The confusion started when in the 72nd minute referee Moses Agbegne showed a red card to substitute Ato Fletcher of Liberty for violent conduct.

Some irate supporters of Apam Liberty led by the local team's security men Samuel, John Amo and Samuel Awortwe invaded the field and attacked the referee and the match supervisor, Mr P.M Aryee and manhandled them.

Mr Aryee told the GNA Sports that during the stampede, the supporters seized his brown envelope containing some vital documents. He alleged that another group of supporters and officials of Apam Liberty led by Mr Eric Abannoh, Mr Amos Appiah and Mr Samuel Awortwe physically assaulted him and took away his cash of 750,000 cedis, one football, an inflator, a wrist watch and Nokia mobile phone all valued at 2,820,000.00 cedis.

The Central Regional Chairman of the Football Association, Mr Mathew Doe said that the case has been reported to the Apam Police for investigations.
