Accra, Sept. 29, GNA – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that Club Licensing will take off effective the 2012-2013 season.
A CAF statement culled by GNA Sports said Clubs will only be allowed to participate in the continental Club Championship if they possess the Club License issued by the Confederation.
“Information relating to the obtaining of the said licenses by Clubs will be communicated to each national association in October 2011,” the statement read.
The Clubs Licensing is a major step towards imbibing professionalism into the game on the continent.
With the latest development, Clubs must boast of basic facilities, infrastructure and financial support to participate in major continental championships such as the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.
