Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is weighing up an option to pay an amount of £1.5 million to secure the services of talented Ghanaian youngster Daniel Amartey from Djurgarden IF.
Scouts of the Anfied side have monitored the teenager in the Swedish Allsvenskan and the Reds are ready to do business in January.
Amartey, a regular first-team player at just 18, is interested in joining the former European champions and will head to Anfield for talks soon. Liverpool have been recruiting young talent in the past few months and think the Ghanaian merits a fee of around £1.5 million, the Daily Mirror is reporting.
The midfielder is due to have an operation on his hand next month but could be sorting out his long-term future soon after. The deal would see Amartey loaned back to Djurgarden until he qualifies for a work permit.
