MTN announces package to Ghana2008

Accra, Dec 18, GNA - Cellular giants, MTN has announced a GHC21 million package to the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the 26th MTN African Cup of Nations towards hosting a successful event.

The presentation thus confirms MTN as the title sponsors of the January 20 - February 10 championships and its commitment towards the best ever well organized tournament in the history of the competition.

George Andah, Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Ghana who revealed the package on Tuesday gave the breakdown as GHC2660,000 cash amount, GHC253,000 in kind with the remaining GHC2287,000 for purchase of advanced tickets.
He said the direct cash covers the cost of commercials, Domestic Live Feed and organizing the build-up programme of the MTN Road Map to Ghana 2008.
Mr Andan explained that the range of products include five hundred hand sets, five hundred sim cards, airtime value of GH=A275000, 50 wireless office modems as well as brands with usage from mid December to end of February 2008.
The Chief Marketing Officer said the intent of the presentation is to demonstrate his outfit's commitment to partnering the LOC, Government and people of Ghana to ensure a successful tournament. Mr Andah also announced that his company will collaborate with partner radio stations to issue about 100 tickets per game to physically challenged persons in the society to watch the Ghana matches free. Dr Kofi Amoah, Chairman of the LOC Board commended MTN for their positive efforts towards the successful hosting of the tournament. He said the cellular telecommunications outfit has gone the extra mile, despite being the title sponsors to ensure that the tournament becomes a master piece.
Dr Amoah said that the LOC will soon outdoor events to create the expected awareness about the envisaged best African Cup of Nations ever to be staged on the African continent.
