Mahatma Otoo on trials with Turkish side

Hearts of Oak Captain Mahatma Osumanu Otoo together with Wisdom Agblexo (a former Hearts of Oak and Heart of Lions striker) began trials with Turkish Süper Lig side Denizlispor Kulübü early Wednesday morning, footy-Ghana.com can reveal exclusively.

Denizlispor is based in the Turkish city of Denizli and have gained international recognition in recent years, when their fifth place finish in the Süper Lig in 2002 qualified them for a place in the UEFA Cup. That year, the team made a surprising run, defeating other European teams like FC Lorient, Sparta Prague, and Olympique Lyonnais, before losing in the fourth round to FC Porto, who eventually went on to win the tournament.

Otoo, the 21-year old Hearts of Oak striker has been a subject of immense transfer speculations and has been linked with a move to a couple of clubs in the gulf region but has together with his managers opted for a chance in Europe with the Turkish side.

FootyGhana understands Otoo was close to joining another Turkish side Elaz??spor earlier this year but the deal fell through due to visa problems.

Hearts are believed to be running against time to sell their captain who has scored four goals in the current Glo Premier League season before he leaves on a free as his contract with the club expires by January 2013.

The other Ghanaian on trials with Otoo at Denizlispor is 26-year-old Wisdom Agblexo. He played for the Phobians and Heart of Lions respectively between the 2004 and 2006 seasons but left the Kpando club to sign for Egyptian club El-Olympi in 2007.Wisdom Agblexo is currently owned by Ansar Football Club of Lebanon.

Footy-Ghana.com understands that both Otoo and Agblexo are expected to complete their trials next Monday.
