Kumasi April 25 GNA - The Board of Directors of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club has decided not to confirm the appointment of the Chief Executive Officer, Major Lawrence Yaw Ampene Larson (Retired) following the expiration of the one year stewardship of his probationary period with the Club.
A terse press release signed by Mr Kwame A. Boafo, the Board Secretary of the Club copied to the GNA Sports on Monday, said the decision was taken at the Board's meeting held in Kumasi on Friday, April 22.
It said an Interim Management Team comprising Messrs Osei Kwame (Despite), Kwabena Kesse (Kessben) and Alhaji Inje has been instituted to oversee the day-to-day administration of the Club pending the appointment of a new CEO within three months.
The release said it is expected that the Board within the three months period would establish a professional management structure for the Club that is consistent with modern practices worldwide. The Board thanked Major Larsen for the services he rendered to Kotoko and wished him success in his future endeavours.
Meanwhile the CEO had earlier in the day announced his resignation from the position citing differences with some of the Board members. Major Larsen told a Radio Station in Kumasi (Hello FM) that some people within the Board were frustrating his efforts at building the Club to the level that would have made it the envy of many. He said he was out to do his best for Kotoko but since some people would simply not allow him to do so, he was not left with any other option but to resign.
He debunked allegations that during his one-year stint with the Club, he had put up a building, saying, he made it in life before joining Kotoko.
