Swedish top-flight side Malmö FF have reached an agreement to officially contract Heart of Lions striker Benjamin Fadi for three years in March, 2012, footy-Ghana.com understands.

The contract will be signed on March 16, 2013 when Fadi is 18 years old, but already is that Malmo have reached an agreement with the player through his agent Patrick Dark and the Kpando-based club on the move. Fadi’s current age, 17, rules him out of being eligible to sign a professional contract.

Malmö invited the Ghana U-20 striker to a trial last month after the club’s chief scout Vito Stavljanin saw him play in the Glo Premier League last season and invited him for the two-week exercise at the end of the Swedish league.

Malmö’s Coach Rikard Norling touts the qualities of Benjamin Fadi and assures he is part of his squad for the 2013 season.

“What we did see was a good player, so good that even though we ourselves have many young talented players, so we wanted to tie him to us.

He has all the attributes required to become a great Premier Division player but as I did with other young players, he will get the time he needs. When the players are so young, they must be handled with care. At the same time, I think he may well play already in 2013,” Norling said.

Footy-Ghana.com understands that Fadi will not be able to represent Malmö in competitive matches until at least March 16. The yet to be activated contract will run up to the end of the Swedish league in 2016.

Fadi is already back in Ghana and featured for Heart of Lions in last Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Hearts of Oak in the Glo Premier League.
