Interim coach Maxwell Konadu congratulated his team for the good work done in securing qualification for the nation, adding that they played to the instructions of the technical team.
Goals from Majeed Waris, Mubarak Wakasi and an own goal saw Ghana clinched a 3-1 win over the visiting Hawks at the Tamale Sports Stadium.
The win sees Ghana clinch automatic qualification to next year’s AFCON finals to be staged in Equatorial Guinea. The Black Stars needed the win not only to seal qualification, but also to appease the Ghanaians fans who remain depressed over the team’s recent dip in form.
Maxwell Konadu who spoke to the media after the game hailed the Black Stars for their heroic efforts in qualifying Ghana to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations with a win over Togo on Wednesday.
“It was a very difficult match [against Togo], our opponents also came to win – they played very well in my opinion,” he said after the game.
“Our boys did extremely well. They played to instructions and scored three goals.
“So in a nut shell I must say it has been a difficult week – losing far away in Uganda, the pressure was on us to at least win this one and get Ghana to the next AFCON.
“It wasn’t easy but the boys took us through and I want to thank them for their performance today.”
Ghana will be making its 20th appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations when next year’s edition kicks off in Equatorial Guinea.
